Hello Everyone,
My name is Jimmy Ramirez. I am both proud and excited to announce that I am the new summer intern for the California Homeless Youth Project. I am a graduate of Freedom High School in Oakley, California and will be entering my second year as an undergraduate at Georgetown University this fall.
This project particularly means a lot to me because I am a former homeless youth. In 2010, after insurmountable financial and emotional distress, my family was forced to split up, leaving my sister and me homeless. My sister and I were fortunate enough to receive support from friends and our school district under the McKinney-Vento Act. I am very blessed to be able to share this with you and have an opportunity to learn from and contribute to this project.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Ramirez
